RoleWeek

This week in developer hiring: Oct 19–25, 2026

7,609 new developer roles from 2,732 employers were first seen on RoleWeek in the week of Oct 19–25, 2026. This is the latest complete week; its permanent page is week 43, 2026. 72% list a salary, and 25% say No account needed to apply.

Weeks run Monday to Sunday in Pacific time (2026-W43). A role counts in the week RoleWeek first saw it listed, which for most employers is the day they posted it or the day after. The one exception is a board’s first check, when roles keep the employers’ own dates if their hiring systems give one. RoleWeek doesn’t list every developer role yet (coverage). Data as of .

Compared with the week before

7,609 new developer roles, up 2% from 7,457 in Oct 12–18, 2026. 2,732 employers had new roles, against 2,697 the week before. RoleWeek was checking 60,752 employer job boards by the end of this week and 60,476 by the end of the last; 60,476 of them had already been checked when this week began, against 58,719 when the last one began, so part of any change is more employers being read, not more hiring.

The 10 cities with the most new roles, then remote roles open to people in the US or Canada. A role listed for several places counts in each, so the shares add to more than 100%. Median posted salary is the median bottom and top of the yearly ranges those roles listed, shown when 15 or more list one (a dot otherwise). Where the city has one it links to its salary page, which covers the last 7 days rather than this week.

Employers’ posted ranges for roles first seen this week, not offers, not what people are paid and not a market average. Not counted: 308 list pay by the hour, week or month and 348 list a yearly range in Canadian dollars (the city table above shows Canadian cities in CA$). Current ranges by city and role type: salary ranges (the last 7 days).

No account needed

1,885 of the 7,609 new roles (25%) apply with No account needed: the form opens on the employer’s own site without making an account first. 2,637 (35%) ask for an account, and 3,087 (41%) come from hiring systems whose apply flow RoleWeek has not checked. Of the 4,522 whose flow was checked, 42% need no account.

How these numbers are made

  • Source: RoleWeek’s own record of when it first saw each developer role on an employer’s job board, read directly from the employer’s hiring system and checked daily. A role counts in the week (Monday to Sunday, Pacific time) it was first seen; on a board’s first check that is the employer’s own posted date when the feed gave one. A role the feed dates more than 2 days before RoleWeek saw it is not counted as new, nor is a role with no date found on a board’s first check.
  • One role is one employer, one title and one day: the same title listed for several places counts once overall and in each of those places. An employer that lists the same title again on a later day counts again. Reposts, staffing agencies, evergreen or talent-pool postings and roles open for months are left out.
  • Coverage is partial. RoleWeek had checked 60,752 employer job boards by the end of this week; 99% of them were already checked at its start. The other 276 were first checked during the week, so roles they posted earlier in the week and took down before that check are missing. A board first checked after the week ended adds nothing to it, so a finished week does not grow. See what RoleWeek covers.
  • RoleWeek’s daily update also drops a few percent of roles after reading the description (a non-software job with a developer-sounding title). A posting’s text is kept for only 10 days, so that read can’t be repeated for a week’s older roles and these counts can run a few percent above what the site listed that week.
  • Salary: yearly ranges only, never converted; a median is printed when 15 or more roles list a yearly range (the salary pages’ threshold). Level and role type are RoleWeek’s reading of each posting.
  • A week appears here on the Monday after it ends, at the daily build; the current week is not a page. A finished week is rebuilt from RoleWeek’s history every day, and its figures move only if RoleWeek corrects how a role was read or takes one down.
